I am writing to encourage Atascadero voters to support Len Colamarino for City Council.
I have raised my family and done business in Atascadero since 1976. This year I decided to become involved in the election campaign for two reasons: I am deeply concerned about the financial crisis Atascadero is now facing, and I have seen a divided City Council ineffectively operate this city over the last decade.
I came to know Len shortly after he moved here in 2004 through our shared interest in bicycling. He and his wife Katrin were so impressed with the beauty of Atascadero they sold their home in New York, consolidated their business and moved to the area. They could have relocated to any place in the United States, but they chose Atascadero.
Len brings to Atascadero fresh ideas and a detached perspective which is not distorted or prejudiced by involvement in past or present partisan conflicts. He is independent politically and has no local business interests to influence his decisions on the Council. He can be trusted to evaluate every issue on its own merits.
The challenges Atascadero faces today are concentrated in its business sector. In countless discussions I have had with Len, he has given me real case examples of his experience helping large international companies out of financial hardships. He is an accomplished business attorney, corporate director and business owner with broad real-world experience. I know Len is qualified for a seat on the City Council. He is skilled to make the hard decisions Atascadero faces today and has the foresight and direction to help make Atascadero what we deserve tomorrow.
Atascadero sorely needs to revitalize its business sector and correct a rapidly declining sales tax base. For the sake of our city, let's look beyond personal attachments and elect the individuals who are best suited to help Atascadero overcome its current challenges.
For these reasons, I urge you to cast one of your three votes for the candidate that can think on his own, Len Colamarino.
