Dear Atascadero Voters,
The November 4th election could bring profound changes to Atascadero. I am deeply concerned about losing the open decision-making that had begun to move Atascadero in the right direction. We need to select the most thoughtful and independent candidates to represent our community. As a result, I have decided to endorse Len Colamarino. Here's what his candidacy offers:
Len will bring inclusiveness, transparency and professionalism to city government. Atascadero has historically been run by a favored few; unlike several other candidates, Len is not part of any organized local group. He also favors openness in government. And he offers his skills and experience as a business attorney to give Atascadero competent, unbiased decision-making—qualities that Atascadero desperately needs.
Len is committed to developing the downtown area. Len recognizes that Atascadero's downtown is the heart of its community. He has made this a cornerstone of his candidacy. He believes that our historic City Administration Building and the Sunken Gardens can function, not just as a symbol for Atascadero, but as a strong economic core. He brings fresh ideas and a willingness to work hard to make this a reality.
Len has a "can-do" attitude. Atascadero has been burdened by a divisive, rigid approach to local issues, which at times has led to defeatism. Len's previous achievements in leading a successful corporate legal firm and turning around businesses gives him confidence about what we can achieve in Atascadero. He can help Atascadero find creative solutions for its problems, and he brings his skills as a negotiator to help unite the people of Atascadero behind shared goals.
Len has taken a neutral position on the Measure D-08 (the Shield Initiative). He will honor the voters' decision about super-centers. Regardless of the outcome of this ballot measure, Atascadero will need competent, experienced leaders to deal with its aftermath. Len is committed to working with all sectors of our business community and finding solutions that strengthen Atascadero.
